Mai 2013 in Bayreuth statt.

The NIF family presents the outcomes of the European Comenius Project

(englischer Bericht über das Treffen in Bayreuth)

BAYREUTH - The 5th and final meeting of a two- year- long European project called N.I.F. took place in Bayreuth, Germany, from 13th to 17th May 2013. In this project people of different nationalities (from Denmark, Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany) have been interacting and working together to set up a virtual company for the realization of a prototype of cleaning robot.

The week activities arranged by the German hosts from Kaufmännische Berufsschule II included group works at school and several interesting outings to the territory.

The ice breaking activity on the first day was of particular fun to students, who had to “pack up” a raw egg only with the help of some drinking straws and adhesive tape so that it would survive a fall of at least 2.5 metres without breaking, and what came out was a series of really strange shapes and inventions!  What followed next was  the city rally of Bayreuth, a sort of  “treasure hunt “ around the main sights, which ended with the visit to Bayreuth Townhall.

On the second day, all partners presented the multimedia works done in the final phase of the project. The Germans did a very interesting presentation on their country and the Bavarian region and then explained  also the so called “dual system” about  vocational training.  In the evening, the European dinner took place, where each country offered their typical food and drinks.

“It gave us the chance to get to know one another better in an informal  way, by exchanging ideas and talking about different cultures” said one of the participant in the dinner “it was a very pleasant moment!”

On Wednesday,  the day started off very early in the morning: the group left by bus for a long and interesting outing to beautiful Bavaria. At the beginning, there was the visit to Regensburg and the ancient Cathedral of St Peter, in the old town centre, then the visit to the BMW plant in Dingolfing. There, the group had an overview of how a BMW car is built and  was really impressed by the size of  the factory and the high level of automation.

Afterwards, students and teachers took part in a lovely boat trip on the river Danube with Kloster Weltenburg as final destination, where they had a typical German dinner.

On Thursday morning the NIF group had a very interesting guided visit to the Handwerkskammer buildings and shops, where they could see how the vocational training is structured here and the differences between the German system and that of other countries. In the second half of the day, the project partners visited the Brewery museum in Bayreuth.

The meeting was concluded on Friday with an exhibition at  Kaufmännische Berufsschule, where students organized stands with posters, photos, videos presenting all the works of the participating countries and promoting the window cleaning robot which was realized.

This event has really reinforced the feeling of belonging to one great reality: EUROPE !!!!
